The fab faux fireplace in last week's Taylor Howes post reminded me of this makeover from Domino's archive. Designer extraordinaire Steven Gambrel completely transformed a tiny New York apartment with paint, smart furniture choices, and architectural elements, like the cast-stone, faux fireplace. The space is still a source of inspiration with lots of clever design solutions (e.g., grosgrain-trimmed bookshelves, painted-on molding, etc.) and a sophisticated, very-unrental-like color palette.
