Farewell, 2013. It's been real... really fun, that is! This past year has been one heck of an obstacle course, fraught with unexpected twists and turns. But no matter how daunting, things always look rosy when you come out clean on the other side. Like Rocky conquering the steps of Philly's art museum, today I'm pumping my fists in the air and reflecting on 2013's victories [Cue music].
It's only now that I recall 2013 as the Year of the Snake, my sign under the Chinese zodiac. How appropriate that it was also my first post on the Interior Collective, my blogging home away from home. The IC has been what they call a stretch assignment, an experience that has tested my blogging prowess with topics well outside my usual stilo. In addition to trends and design tips, I contributed my own little version of a design brief as well as designer bios. This one on Louise Roe was one of my favorites to write.

After a multi-month hiatus, I went back to management consulting, but this time with a completely different perspective–one that developed after months of research and reflection. This 'new attitude' is the foundation of my soon-to-be website, Memo Rogue. It's all about kicking butt at the office with the same glamour and brazenness that I preach here on Sukio. Launching a professional women's website may seem like a strange passion project, but after years of navigating office life, I feel it's sorely needed.

If I get my love of glamour from my mama, then my interest in photography is all my dad. I remember when he gifted me my first real camera, a Pentax IQ Zoom, when I was 12ish - a clunker of a thing that lasted well into my 20s. I've always considered myself a straight hobbyist, never investing too much time in perfecting the craft, but 2013 saw a sharp upturn in my interest. I definitely have VSCO to thank, along with Sukio, of course. Let's see what 2014 brings. I'll be photographing a bestie's wedding on Saturday (Yikes!). Fingers will remained crossed until then.

Ok. Enough about me. Here's what you loved in 2013...
The most reblogged image on Tumblr was the spectacular kitchen of Cameron Diaz. Designed by Kelly Wearstler, it's also a nod to 2013's color of the year, Emerald Green.

The most pinned image was this chic, little vignette from Jonathan Adler's Fall Catalog. While many love the idea of stacking books in the fireplace, I just love all of it!

It was a close race, but the eclectic home of architect Ignacio García de Vinuesa was the most popular post of the year. Awesome, isn't it?

And finally, thank you, thank you, thank you for your support! You put the "u" in Sukio (although my dear friend who put the "Suki" in Sukio will probably disagree). I continue to be motivated and inspired by your feedback. Keep it coming in the new year!
